DREAMINGLIVE

LOOP WATCH · CHAPTER 1 · NIGHT DESK

Vi records RR21953C again — Corin kills Vi, nightly.

Childhood home, stairs, old bedroom, pillow. Same players, same plot; the setting and audio drift. Unsellable by design — or defiance.

It plays out like it always does. She runs through her childhood home, up the stairs, into the old bedroom — the bed she used to dream in as a girl. He dives past the threshold, tackles her, drags her atop it, and crushes the pillow into her face. She writhes. Her breath is taken. Finally, she lets him kill her again.

Cut. Log code RR21953C-66M08/02/2064. File as loop: same players and plot every night, with the setting and audio drifting around the edges. Plain English: the biggest star in the business keeps dreaming one unreleasable nightmare on repeat.

The man in the dream and the man by the RECbed are the same person: Corin Carrow, her father, the most notorious weaver alive, sixty years of baggage behind his eyes and one eyebrow missing. He watched the playback. His lip quivered. “You can’t keep doing this,” he said. “The show must go on.”

“You can’t demand I dream a certain way — a way that doesn’t dream-cast you as the homicidal maniac we both know you are, Dad.”

Vi peeled sweaty auburn hair off her forehead, rubbed her right ear the way she does when nervous, and took it. Then came the summons: back tonight, two hours early, to provoke an extra REM cycle and make up the unusable footage.

Here is what the charts say and what they mean. Vi reliably shipped a dream a month for a decade — no two alike in tone, theme or setting — and owned the box office. A Luna who stops shipping fresh content stops being a Luna; sleep space is too valuable, and loops are a pox. Four and a half months of mantra, learned from Maddie Sharez herself (the day leaks in), plus compulsive rewatching of one filicidal cut, trained her brain to replay it. Her cutter Basi saw the copy. Corin saw the threat. Plain English: she may be breaking her own streak on purpose — and Dad just noticed.

Verdict: LOOP — unsellable, possibly deliberate. Which is exactly the kind of sentence that sells novels. Why she loops →
